Penalty points can’t be enforced

ALMOST 200,000 people issued with penalty points did not have a valid driving licence, Road Safety Authority figures have revealed.

Penalty points can’t be enforced

The figures show that of 608,324 active penalty point endorsements, 188,581 cannot be enforced as the drivers could not produce a valid licence.

Fine Gael spokesman on Transport Fergus O’Dowd said the figures were “shocking” and proved that thousands are driving around without a licence.
