Two further feud attacks

TWO more feud attacks were carried out early yesterday in Limerick when the homes of Christy Keane, recently released from prison, and his sister-in-law were targeted.

Two further feud attacks

A group of youths smashed in front windows of Christy Keane’s home in Singland Gardens. Later the home of Sophie Keane, widow of murdered crime boss Kieran Keane, was attacked in a similar manner.

Both attacks are believed to have been carried out by the same people.

These latest incidents follow on earlier feud incidents last Thursday in which a youth was stabbed in an assault in the city centre and shots were fired some hours later.

Members of the rival gangs also set upon each other in a subsequent clash when they came face to face at the Mid-Western Regional Hospital where a number of people were being treated.

Christy Keane is understood not to have been at his house when yesterday’s attack was carried out.

Following the attacks, Limerick’s senior detective, Det Supt Jim Browne warned parents that gangs were getting younger and volatile people involved.

“I would appeal to parents to keep an eye on their children and know where they are at all times. If they don’t they could end up in jail or causing suffering or pain to others,” he said.
