THE Government paid out €25 million in benefits for children living in other EU countries in 2008.

€25m on child benefit for non-residents

The Department of Social and Family Affairs confirmed that €20.9m was paid out last year on child benefit for children of EU workers living in countries such as Poland, Britain, Lithuania, Latvia and Slovakia.

Add to this the €4.5m paid out for the Early Childcare Supplement and it brings the total to more than €25m.
