HIGHER taxes are part of Fine Gael’s economic policies being drawn up in preparation for a possible general election this year.

The party said tax and spending changes are needed to bring the public finances back in order and has called for the scrapping of the 2009 budget.

The Labour Party has meanwhile called for a Plan for National Recovery, which it said should be implemented no matter who is in power and when over the next three years.
