Begg: Banks will be nationalised in 3 months
The ICTU general secretary said the “disaffected population” of Ireland is living in fear and anger and urged the Government not to ignore the unions’ proposed 10-point plan for economic recovery.
Following the march of more than 100,000 workers in Dublin city centre on Saturday, Mr Begg said: “The problem at the moment is you have a very disaffected population sharing two emotions: fear and anger. Fear because they don’t know what’s going to happen them and their jobs; fear because a whole generation of very highly educated young people for whom redundancy was never in their frame of reference don’t know what’s going to happen to them or the future; and anger because they know they had nothing to do with causing it.”
