A FIANNA FÁIL TD has called on the Oireachtas Finance Committee to launch a much more aggressive investigation of the failure in the country’s banks.

Cork North Central TD Noel O’Flynn said the committee should compel key witnesses to attend rather than merely inviting them to do so. He also said the committee should make orders for discovery of documents, so it could obtain necessary evidence and ascertain exactly what happened and when.

Mr O’Flynn wants a much tougher grilling of officials from the Central Bank, the Irish Financial Services Regulatory (IFSRA) and others involved.
