ISPCA calls for lifetime ban on farmer over animal cruelty

A JUDGE, shocked by horrific images of livestock cruelty, was yesterday asked to impose a lifetime ban on a farmer from herding animals.

Judge Tom O’Donnell at Limerick District Court said photographs from the dairy farm were among the most upsetting he had come across in his time on the bench.

And an inspector from the Irish Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ISPCA) also said the animal suffering he witnessed on the farm of Richard Smith, at Lemonfield, Crecora, Co Limerick was the worst he had ever encountered.
