Security alert at Israeli embassy
The alarm was raised after the package arrived in the embassy’s morning post.
The Dublin Fire Brigade and the Army Bomb Disposal Unit were then called to the scene. The embassy building was evacuated and Pembroke Road closed for a period.
Following an inspection by army personnel the package was declared a hoax.
Only one embassy staff member was in the building during the incident. The Israeli ambassador, Zion Evrony was at a meeting in the Department of Foreign Affairs.
Regular protests have been held outside the embassy since the Israeli Army launched its offensive in Gaza late last month.
