THERE were calls yesterday for Anglo Irish Bank’s disgraced former chairman to face the full force of the law after secretly borrowing up to €129 million from the bank.

Minister for Energy Eamon Ryan agreed Sean FitzPatrick should “absolutely” face the “full rigour of the law” following the loans scandal that has forced the Government to take over the troubled bank.

Demand for action against the shamed banking chief came as pressure mounted on the Government to collect massive unpaid bad debts or “toxic loans” from other banks and pile them into Anglo Irish Bank.
