Memorial website launched for bereaved families

THE first free online memorial website of its kind in Ireland has been launched.

The imissyou.ie site offers bereaved families, relatives and friends an online space where they can remember their loved ones.

Users can create personal online memorial pages using pictures, stories and messages to pay tribute to the memory and lives of their deceased relatives or friends.

Each memorial will stay online for five years.

The website has been developed by JoAnn and John Cahill, from Mallow, Co Cork.

JoAnn, originally from Missouri, first came across the memorial website concept in the US and she decided to set up her own free service here.

“We hope imissyou.ie will provide a very different way of expressing grief and emotions,” she said.

“Those abroad can share their stories. It’s a great way of sharing memories and celebrating the lives of those who are no longer with us.

“The site is not about death, but life. It’s about appreciating the gift of life and taking time to remember those who have passed before us.”

John said that as time passes and as more people make their contributions to the memorial space through words, photos and poetry, it becomes a unique source of memories which can always be reflected upon.

The website provides simple user guides to create the memorial, which can then be viewed worldwide.
