Wren festivities become fundraiser of hope

A YOUNG Irishman who is being treated in England for a devastating spinal injury used modern technology last night to sample the traditional wren celebrations in his home town.

The C1 complete spinal injury — one of the worst sports injuries — has also left him unable to breathe without the aid of a ventilator.

But thanks to conference call and bluetooth technology, he was able to link up with more than 100 wren boys and girls last night who performed specially for him from a Fermoy hotel.
