PARENTS will be given regular reports on the performance, education ethos and operation of their children’s schools under Government plans to offer an alternative to league tables.

Education Minister Batt O’Keeffe said he will bring forward new regulations to “empower parents” with more information about the schools their children attend.

Schools would have to engage in regular self-evaluation and there would be closer interaction between parents and teachers under the plans being considered by the minister.
