Irish Examiner wins top European design awards

THE Irish Examiner has won a number of awards in a major international competition for newspaper production and design.

Irish Examiner wins top European design awards

The results of the 10th European Newspaper Awards show the Irish Examiner winning in three main categories. Three front pages of the newspaper combined to win the overall Front Pages Nationwide Newspaper Award while the newspaper also won three awards for supplements it produced over the past year. These include Drugs and Ireland, published on November 20, 2007, which explored the growing menace of drug use; and Religion in Ireland, published on March 21, 2008, which records the growing diversity of faith and belief systems in this country. A further three awards were won for page design, along with a magazine award for the production of a wine guide.

The editor of the Irish Examiner, Tim Vaughan, said last night he was delighted with the results: “This is another wonderful achievement for our team at the Irish Examiner and it reflects our determination to show innovation in a very competitive market,” he said.

“It is also a reward for our commitment to our readers to be fresh and different.”
