TAOISEACH Brian Cowen was accused of having no sense of the public anger and unease over the spending splurge by Fás executives on foreign travel.

During leaders’ questions in the Dáil yesterday, Mr Cowen said there was a process in place to establish if there was any wrongdoing in the state training and employment agency.

He accepted the lavish spending on meals, beauty parlours and golf rounds during trips to Florida, should not have happened: “I don’t believe that there are items of expenditure there that should have been incurred. That is clear.”
