Vow to lay off HSE admin and management staff

FINE GAEL in government would lay off administrative and management staff in the Health Service Executive (HSE) through voluntary and involuntary redundancies.

Health spokesman James Reilly said when the Government set up the HSE, “it failed to take the hard decisions at the outset in regard to redundancies”.

He said: “Instead they merged 11 companies [health boards] and promised everyone they could not alone keep their job, but that they wouldn’t have to move job either — an impossible place to begin — enshrining the inefficiencies of the health boards.”
