A €10 AIRPORT tax for all flights out of Ireland, announced in the budget last month, will not be charged to those travelling to most British destinations.

The Finance Bill, to be published today, will introduce a €2 tax on flights to locations such as Liverpool, Manchester and Glasgow from all Irish airports after pressure from management of regional airports who said the €10 tax would have put them at a disadvantage.

Finance Minister Brian Lenihan decided the latest budget backtrack to make it more “equitable” to regional airports.
