ICTU call to ‘soften’ cutbacks

THE Irish Congress of Trade Unions has issued 10 recommendations to the Government on how to “reverse or soften” the impact of the recent budget cutbacks.

ICTU economic adviser Paul Sweeney said the Government has one last opportunity to correct “some of its worst mistakes” in the Finance Bill.

That bill is due to be published on November 20 and gives effect to measures contained in the budget.
