Discovery of body triggers murder inquiry

GARDAÍ launched a murder hunt last night following the brutal killing of a man who was missing for a week and whose body was dumped in a remote Kerry marsh.

The results of the post mortem on the body of John McManus, which was conducted at Cork University Hospital (CUH), confirmed late last night that he died a violent death.

The cause of death was not released for operational reasons, a garda spokesman said.
