Stylish monument suits great character

EVEN in death the memory of one of Cork’s great characters lives on — in style.

Legendary Bernie Murphy has been given a most fitting headstone, depicting his pinstripe suit, hat and a customary pint of Beamish.

The eye-catching monument has been erected at St James’ Cemetery, Chetwynd by his lifelong friend, photographer Billy MacGill.
