FF TD attacks ‘left-wing’ RTÉ

A FIANNA FÁIL TD has launched a stinging attack on RTÉ over its coverage of the budget, accusing the station of imbalance and loading TV audiences with people opposed to the Government.

Noel Treacy, a deputy for Galway East, branded the RTÉ “a left-wing organisation” and accused it, as well as other media, of bias and unethical practices.

He complained that RTÉ had “not committed itself to enunciating and promoting policies laid down by Government or parliament”. Mr Treacy also accused RTÉ of holding the Taoiseach and other ministers up to ridicule through the use of satirical sketches on prime-time TV — a comment believed to be a reference to a recent edition of the Late Late Show.
