A MINI-BUDGET in 2009 has been ruled out by Finance Minister Brian Lenihan, who said it would only serve to inflict further damage on the economy.

He told the Dáil there is “no question of a supplementary budget” and the “tax burden” in the budget could not be increased.

He said that under the Finance Bill, which gives legal effect to the budget, an additional €2 billion in tax will be levied next year.
