Families consider legal action over misdiagnoses

A NUMBER of families whose relatives died as a result of a series of lung cancer misdiagnoses are considering legal action over the debacle, the Irish Examiner has learned.

Families consider legal action over misdiagnoses

The news comes following yesterday’s publication of the HSE’s review of almost 6,000 x-rays and 67 CT scans which were incorrectly diagnosed by an elderly locum consultant radiologist working in the Louth Meath Hospitals between August 2006 and August 2007.

The review — released more than a month after its original publication date — was given to the families just hours before it was publicly released.
