Psychotic symptoms more likely in abused children

A SURVEY of children in Dublin has found those exposed to domestic violence, bullying or sexual abuse are up to 10 times more likely to develop psychotic symptoms and almost 20% are at high risk of mental health problems.

A team of British and Irish psychiatrists studied 743 pupils aged 12-15 in the north Dublin area.

Their initial tests found that 140 had a high risk of mental health problems.
