Gormley rejects ‘cronyism’ claim over appointments

ENVIRONMENT Minister John Gormley has been accused of “incompetent cronyism” after making two illegal appointments to a state board.

Labour leader Eamon Gilmore said it was standard for Fianna Fáil to appoint friends to such boards, but there was now the unusual situation where the Green party had tried to do something similar but got it wrong.

“Cronyism is not new in Fianna Fáil, but we now have incompetent cronyism,” he said.
