Pay cut or redundancy? The harsh choice for Cappoquin staff

STAFF at the rescued Cappoquin Chickens plant in west Waterford were yesterday presented with a stark choice: redundancy or a pay cut.

Initial joy following Friday’s announcement that the troubled factory was to be bought by a British food company was tempered over the weekend when it emerged that job losses were still on the cards.

Yesterday, employees were told that if they wanted to stay on, they would have to work for less money.
