We’re not safe yet, says Cowen

THE TAOISEACH has warned the country is “not out of the woods” following the Government’s move to guarantee the funds of six Irish-owned banks.

Brian Cowen said “things are far from back to normal” a week after the rescue package was promised and admitted: “We’re living in pretty extraordinary times.”

The Government scheme was due to be finalised yesterday but is now expected to be presented to the cabinet and the Dáil later in the week.
