AER LINGUS confirmed to its staff yesterday that it is planning significant cost reductions — but stopped short of saying how many would lose their jobs.

The airline gave a two-hour briefing to SIPTU, which represents 1,900 groundstaff at Cork, Dublin and Shannon airports as well as the company’s craft unions.

It will carry out a similar briefing this morning with the IMPACT trade union, which represents cabin crew.
