Bono and Geldof to press Cowen on aid spend at UN launch of hunger programme

BONO, Bob Geldof and Brian Cowen were today joining forces at the United Nations to try and end world hunger.

The Taoiseach was using the annual UN general assembly meeting to launch the findings of an Irish taskforce on helping the third world with the rock-stars-turned-anti-poverty activists.

However, Bono and Geldof are likely to urge the Taoiseach not to cut Ireland’s aid spending again in next month’s emergency budget after it lost €45 million in the July finance squeeze.
