A LIST of 700 speed detection “hotspots” has been published by gardaí for the first time in an attempt to get drivers to slow down.

New speed detection vehicles are to be deployed by gardaí at the 700 traffic blackspots around the country, but motorists can check the location of the zones at the garda.ie website.

The aim of the initiative, which includes publishing details of the speed zones on the website, is to reduce road deaths by 5%.
