Raid 18 years ago helps save priest’s life during arson attack

AN ELDERLY Co Limerick priest did not perish in an arson attack early yesterday because he was afraid to stay overnight in his parochial residence after a previous night of terror.

Canon James Ambrose was tied up, tortured and beaten by a gang when they raided his house in Dromcollogher 18 years ago.

The house was burnt to the ground early yesterday after another break-in.
