Speed ramp plan

SPEED ramps may be built on roads in residential areas of Killarney to slow down drivers.

Some areas are frequented by boy racers but there’s disagreement in Killarney Town Council about how to tackle problems with speeding. Some councillors called for more Garda activity but Labour’s Sean O’Grady proposed the installation of table-top ramps, with the agreement of local residents.

However, town manager, John Breen, said the first step was to request gardaí to conduct a speed survey to establish scientific evidence of a problem. The council agreed to have a survey completed before taking any further action.
