TV show may be recipe for millionaire chef

RTÉ confirmed yesterday that it has signed a major deal with supermarket giant SuperValu to partner it in a new reality-style cookery show that could guarantee an amateur chef an income for life, and perhaps even make them a millionaire.

The six-part series of the show, Recipe for Success?, will see 15 home cooks battle it out to have their own gastronomic creations stocked on the shelves of all 180 SuperValu stores nationwide.

Viewers will see exactly what goes into the creation of the food we buy — from perfecting the concept, to testing feasibility and refining the recipe.

They will then face judges from SuperValu’s own product development team who will choose one dish for mass production.

And the winning chef will get a percentage slice of the proceeds of every product sold.

The show will be produced by RTÉ Cork, which has begun looking for contestants to take part.

Contestants have until September 26 to get their applications in before they will be invited to present their meals at a tasting in the Cork Institute of Technology.

The 15 lucky enough to be shortlisted will go through to the TV series.

lApplication forms can be downloaded from www.rte.ie/tv/recipeforsuccess, or email the show on recipeforsuccess@rte.ie.
