LIMERICK’S social scene has moved ahead of some professions in tackling homophobic behaviour, the city’s gay and lesbian support groups claimed yesterday.

Richard Lynch, a volunteer with Rainbow Support Services (RSS), said gay people are openly accepted in the city’s night life venues.

Mr Lynch said: “Gay people can go into any bar. We love Limerick and the amazing creative and artistic life which defines it.”
