Divorce rates in Munster on the rise

THE number of divorces granted in Munster continues to rise, according to figures obtained from the Central Statistics Office (CSO).

Of the 909 divorces granted in the province last year, 471 were obtained by couples in Cork, which was up from 382 in 2006.

Cork recorded the second-highest figure in the country, though it was well behind Dublin, where 1,286 divorces were granted. Kildare came in third with 160.
