Drumm: Most in hospital have no need to be there

HSE boss Professor Brendan Drumm said yesterday the majority of those in hospital have “absolutely no need to be there”.

The health chief said he wanted to send out a strong message that “the future of care is community, community, community”.

“However, we have constructed a system which has given people no alternative and managed to fool people into thinking that’s what’s good for them.”
