AER LINGUS workers in Shannon fear the company may axe one of the airline’s transatlantic daily services due to a big fall in passenger numbers this summer.

Due to the fall in the value of the dollar, passenger numbers on transatlantic routes are down by up to 25%.

The advent of the Open Skies policy has also hit Shannon with more airlines opting to fly directly into Dublin.
