FOUR people, including a girl aged four and a mother of six young children, have been given a second chance at life due to organs they have received from a Co Limerick Leaving Certificate student.

Nineteen-year-old Erin Whelan from Bruff died on Thursday, as a result of injuries she received the previous day in a road accident.

The accident happened early on Wednesday, and Erin did not live to see the results she got in her Leaving Certificate later that day — which would have fulfilled her goal of going on to third level.
