TRALEE lady Carol Kennelly blew away the storm clouds over Galway when her dazzling outfit scooped the crown every woman covets, Best Dressed Lady.

Ms Kennelly impressed the judges with her self-made and designed headpiece, which took 20 hours to make.

While the extravagant feathered design wowed the judges, her modestly priced purple dress from French Connection also won the seal of approval.

Ms Kennelly is no stranger to such awards as she recently won Best Dressed Lady at the Listowel festival.

A delighted Ms Kennelly took home €4,000 in cash, a diamond white gold neckpiece valued at €6,000, a €2,000 shopping spree for Anthony Ryan’s department store in Galway, as well as a crystal vase from the collection by Irish fashion designer Louise Kennedy.

Ms Kennelly, who attended with her four-year-old daughter Rosie, said she was delighted to win but that she couldn’t celebrate as she was pregnant.

“Wow I am just so excited. I can’t believe it. I don’t know how I can celebrate though because I am pregnant,” she said.

The accommodation manager for Fell’s Point Hotel in Tralee plans to return again next year, even though contestants are not allowed to win two years in a row.

Cathy Casey from Limerick was runner-up in the best dressed category, while Lisa Kennedy from Dublin was ahead of the rest with the best hat.
