Appeal 10 years after Deirdre last seen

Crimestoppers has offered a reward to anybody who can help solve the disappearance of 18-year-old Deirdre Jacob.

On Tuesday, July 28, 1998, she visited her grandmother in Newbridge, Co Kildare.

After walking home she was last seen at about 3.30pm at the gateway of her house, also in Newbridge.

However, on July 30 and 31, a woman fitting Deirdre’s description was seen in the Tara Street area of Dublin.

The woman was described as about 5ft 2in tall, of small build, pale complexion and with brown /reddish hair.

She was wearing blue denim jeans or black trousers, a long-sleeved black jacket and black and white runners.

Superintendent Kevin Donohue said: “We will be issuing a picture of Deirdre showing what she might look like now.”

One theory is she may have gone to England, as she did teacher training in Strawberry Hill, London.

The Crimestoppers freephone line is 1800 25 00 25.
