Sinn Féin call for treaty renegotiation
“I made it very clear in my submission that there is no way there could be a rerun of the referendum, that there was clearly a need for a new treaty and that treaty needs to be negotiated out during his presidency with as much progress as possible,” said Mr Adams.
Sinn Féin presented the president with the main reasons, they believe, the Irish public voted no, including: the democratic deficit, workers’ rights, public services, militarisation and a threat to neutrality.
