OPPOSITION leaders warned President Sarkozy yesterday against the idea of holding a second referendum in Ireland in the coming months.

Fine Gael leader Enda Kenny and his Labour counterpart, Eamon Gilmore, each met with Mr Sarkozy in Government Buildings for between 10 and 15 minutes.

Mr Sarkozy told both men there could be no renegotiation of the treaty, and an alternative way forward would have to be found before next summer’s European elections.
