THE death of Charlie Hennessy yesterday was described as “a tremendous loss to Cork city” by Cork film festival director Mick Hannigan.

Mr Hennessy died in Marymount Hospice at the age of 77.

He was chairman of the board of the Cork International Film Festival from 1985 to 2005 and continued to contribute to the premier arts festival, attending its board meeting on June 6 of this year.
