Stagger nightclub closing times to curb street violence, urges FG

MOVES to force all pubs and clubs to shut at the same time will lead to an upsurge in street violence, Fine Gael has warned.

With about half a million people a week visiting nightclubs in the republic, Fine Gael justice spokesman Charlie Flanagan said closing times should be staggered.

Mr Flanagan said Fine Gael had drafted new proposals which would introduce special licences for nightclubs to regulate the industry.
