THE jobs of 1,200 staff at aircraft maintenance company SR Technics looked to be secure last night after partial agreement was reached on new staff working arrangements.

SR Technics had been due to sign a new 10-year line maintenance contract for Aer Lingus on Sunday. With the loss of a number of other lucrative contracts, the line maintenance function was essential to the future of the company.

However, last Friday staff voted not to accept new staff efficiencies, including extra productivity for aircraft handlers, which the company was seeking as part of its cost-cutting drive.
