Girl who drowned saving sister mourned

FAMILY and friends of 13-year-old Nicole O’Brien, who drowned after saving her younger sister from the sea off west Cork, gathered last night for her removal.

Nicole died after she swam into strong currents to rescue her 11-year-old sister Cjay, who had got into difficulty swimming at Inchydoney Strand in west Cork last Saturday.

Nicole’s parents Isabel and Gerry were joined by relatives and friends at St Senan’s Church, Kilmacow, Co Kilkenny, last night.
