Morrissey set for show on Leeside

SEMINAL lyricist and musical giant Morrissey has confirmed a summer concert in Cork.

The former Smiths frontman will perform Live at the Marquee in the city’s docklands on Thursday, June 26.

Tickets priced at €54.80 (standing) and €59.80 (seated) will go on sale at 9am next Thursday from all Ticketmaster outlets nationwide.

Morrissey will also headline this year’s Wireless Festival in London’s Hyde Park a few days later on July 4.

The addition of Morrissey to the bill completes the line-up for this year’s Live at the Marquee gigs.

Other headline acts include Eric Clapton, Dolly Parton, Christy Moore, Neil Young, and Paul Simon, all of which have sold out.

Tickets are still available for the first of Shayne Ward’s two concerts on June 18 — the opening gig of the event.

There are also some tickets still on sale for Lou Reed, Jay Z, Clubland, Meatloaf, Massive Attack, Paul Weller and Pink.

Meanwhile, comedian Tommy Tiernan has become the first artist to play three dates in one year of Live at the Marquee.

The third performance on July 5 has been added following phenomenal demand for tickets. His other two dates on July 2 and 4 have sold out.

Tickets, priced €35, for his third date went on sale yesterday.
