CORK harbour could be on the school curriculum thanks to an EU-style approach to coastal management launched yesterday.

The Cork Harbour integrated management strategy — used widely across Europe — will for the first time provide a framework in which all harbour stakeholders can discuss their issues and plan ahead.

The strategy, which runs until 2011, hopes to promote a “joined-up” approach to the harbour’s management.
