Family hope inquiry will lead to extra hospital staff

THE father-in-law of Tania McCabe, the young mother who died in childbirth along with one of her twin boys last year, has said he hopes the inquiry into their deaths will result in extra staff being provided to the hospital where they died.

Philip McCabe, father of Tania’s husband, Aidan, also said the family still have questions they need to ask the inquiry team.

“The report has certainly indicated there were some gaps in communications between different sections of the hospital staff. They’re not attributing blame to anybody and neither am I at this stage, there is no point. But there seems to have been some systematic failure within the hospital itself,” said Mr McCabe.
