Councillor returns to Shanghai despite lack of report from previous trip

LIMERICK County Council is to go ahead with a trip to China, despite the fact that a promised report on the benefits of a previous mission costing taxpayers €32,000 was never produced.

The council chairman, Cllr Kevin Sheahan FF, and an official will this afternoon set out on an eight-day official trip to Shanghai costing €7,000.

This is the second visit by the council to the Jiading district of Shanghai since relations formally opened in 2002.
