Supplies for Chad mission to dock

A HUGE shipment of army weapons and essential supplies to equip Irish troops in Chad is scheduled to land in west Africa tomorrow.

A ship carrying over 3,700 tonnes in vehicles, food and machinery will dock in Douala, Cameroon, after a two-week sea journey.

A claim by Chad’s government this week that thousands of rebels were massed in Sudan and set to attack neighbouring Chad in an attempt to destabilise it, was dismissed by the Irish troops heading up the EU peace mission yesterday.
